I’m your normal girl who feigns deep sleep while tugging at the ends of the covers while your mother’s screaming for you to get up and get dressed for breakfast. All songs that have been set to my alarm have quietly become my mortal enemies, and my iPhone is cracked beyond repair from endless tosses and turns. Clearly, mornings are not my cup of tea, but winter seems to put a curious stop to my regular habits.
Snow, like water is hard to wade through, but I can’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment when I’m the first to leave my marks on the fresh slate of snow while the day is still young. But like other things, happiness is short-lived. A five-hour study session at the library is enough to drain you, but the mounds of slush that welcome my pathway back home is disheartening no less. That’s why in the winter, I await for mornings, fingers crossed that a snow storm will sweep by and once again grace the front lawn, allowing me to repeat the process once again.
But after three months, I’m quite sick of the never-ending cycle. And that’s how I find myself in Los Angeles, the sunniest place to be, the land of blond bombshells, and carefree living.Thankfully, our school seems to host the same concerns (I kid), as I’m here for a week long break that comes only after a month back in school.
Well, now that I’m here, I’m once again thrown off figuring out what to wear in California. Californian weather is one easily of the most eclectic weathers. Clearly, the sun is blazoning in your eyes, and yet, the breeze that spirals from the beach makes the weather cold, not cool. Walking along Third Street Promenade, I spy a lady busting out a mini skirt in sky-high stilettos, followed by a angsty teenage boy shivering by in his studded goose parka.
Meanwhile, I’m wearing a sleeveless top, shorts, and a thick camo jacket.Could there be a consistent attire for this weather? Or maybe I’m getting it all wrong; it’s all part of the exclusive Californian look.
I can’t seem to find the answer even after eighteen years. What do you think?
And some pictures that I took throughout the day:
